The Tamegroute Bowl is a beautiful and authentic item from Morocco. The Tamegroute Bowl is made in a village in the south of Morocco called Tamegroute, which is is known for it's characteristic green and mustard coloured pottery.
The mustard options on this listing are a beautiful rich tone with burnished cognac coloured edging on the large bowl and brown edging with the traditional green glaze peeking through on the medium bowl. They would style beautifully in any contemporary setting and/or with the green Tamegroute pottery pieces in our range.
Just like the famous Zelliges of the Fes-potters the ancient techniques of this particular type of pottery give the green glaze it’s beautiful variations. The ancient glaze technique comprises silicon, manganese and copper, which, once baked in earth kilns, results in the striking green hue. There is an influence of the Fes potters and other craftsmen dating back to the 17th Century when they were invited to Tamegroute.
In the ovens the pieces are stacked together which causes little scars which in turn make each piece so unique. Each bowl is slightly different with its own imperfections. Tamegroute Pottery comes is usually a beautiful rich shade of emerald or alternatively a gorgeous golden. They tone beautiful together so it's easy to mix and match them or you select your requirement.
