Amongst the Ndjami people in Cameroon, unadorned dolls are made by blacksmiths, as playthings, for young girls. When they are dressed with beads, shells, coins and other trinkets they become fertility dolls, cared for as though a real child. The dolls are characterised by a narrow trunk and head, with the upper part of the arms and legs being set at right angles to the body and the lower extremities then sit at right angles to the upper forming a striking geometric design. Unadorned dolls are also used to mark houses when the Ndjami are in. Other tribes in the region have been influenced by the Ndjamii, and seen their dolls, and have adopted the design themselves.

Now these beautiful dolls make the perfect decor accessories for adults and children alike, adding a pop of colour to neutral colour schemes or coordinating with other fresh and bright palettes. These dolls are all slightly different as they are handmade and they do come in various sizes.
