The Bamileke Feather Juju Headdress is a striking feature and lends itself as wall art with texture and interest. These beautiful headdresses are made in the traditional manner by tribesmen n northern Cameroon, West Africa. They are intended to be worn by royal dancers during ceremonies and symbolise prosperity as they are believed to possess the positive qualities of birds. Also known as Juju Hats, these headdresses are made of dyed chicken features which are hand stitched into a raffia basket. A headdress is easily transported as they fold into themselves.
Naturally, these items are treated to pass strict Australian customs regulations and it is recommended that a repeat treatment of a simple insecticide is administered annually to protect them from moths.
