The Zambesi Rug is handmade from a blend of karahul wool and mohair
Karakul Sheep are found in Central Asia and Africa. Their wool is ideal for crafting textiles for our contemporary lifestyle. Its hard wearing yet soft. Rugs made from the wool of Karakul Sheep have excellent weight and substance to them with a chunky, satisfying feel. Bringing warmth, depth and texture to any room - they are somewhat dense, springy and possess a very natural texture. They have a luxurious yet rustic feel and look to them and they elevate any space.
The mohair comes from Angora goats and offers extra warmth, lightweight and long-wearing properties to this rug.
These rugs are heirloom material! The karakul wool is bound by a very long fibre and is spun and woven to ensure a rug that will last a lifetime. A high natural coating of lanolin makes these rugs extremely durable, protects against staining, and also fire resistant.
And they are reversible!
Each Rug made to order and takes 8-12 weeks to dispatch. It then needs to make its journey from Africa to Sydney which can take another 8 weeks. Its's so worth the wait for such an investment piece!
